Lady’s caprice cake is a tried-and-tested favorite recipe for very delicious homemade cake. It surprises with a fragrant topping of tasty jam, fluffy meringue and crunchy walnuts.

Lady’s caprice cake

Prep time 20 minutes
Cook time 35 minutes
Total time 55 minutes


  • 4 eggs
  • 150 g sugar
  • 100 ml sunflower oil
  • 250 ml yogurt
  • 250 g flour
  • 1 baking powder
  • 300 g jam (to taste)
  • 60 g walnuts (finely chopped)


  • Divide the yolks from the whites into two separate bowls.
  • Add 100 g of sugar to the egg yolks and beat well until creamy.
  • Add the yogurt and mix.
  • Add the oil and mix.
  •  Add the flour mixed with the baking powder. Mix everything.
  • Pour the mixture into a round or oblong pan, greased with oil or covered with parchment paper.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180° for about 25 minutes.
  • In the meantime, beat the egg whites with 50 g of sugar until stiff.
  • When the cake is cooked, take it out of the oven and spread with the jam.
  • Cover with the beaten egg whites and sprinkle with finely chopped walnuts. Return to the oven and cook for another 10 minutes until golden brown.
  • Leave it to cool and cut.
